New jungle-themed play area opens

-

A NEW play area has opened to adventurers in King George V Playing Field.

The equipment has been designed to suit a range of abilities from babies to age 14.

It includes a Titan Five Arm Swing, inspired by a fairground ride. When sat on one of the five swings, children will feel as though they are flying.

The swing has different seating options including a rope ladder, a fully supportive Mirage Seat and T-bar - to suit different abilities.

The whole play area has a jungle and animal theme, with the hopes of encouraging imaginative play.

The play area, which can be accessed off Easthampstead Road, Seaford Road and Goodchild Road, was officially opened by youngsters.

The Wokingham town mayor, mini mayor and students from Wescott Infant School, St Teresa’s Primary School and Westende Junior School came along to try it out – and gave it a big thumbs up.

Amenities committee chair at Wokingham Town Council, Cllr Nick Campbell-White said: ‘We are delighted that the play park is open

“I’d like to thank park users and residents for the fantastic feedback that helped us shape the park together with the designers to produce a vibrant, inclusive play area that can be enjoyed by all for years to come.”

The play park also has a Cozy Cocoon designed for those with autism spectrum disorders.

The enclosed space offers children a place to escape the playground when over stimulated. Interior textures and moulded-in features present tactile exploration, while windows on both sides offer security for adult visibility.

Picnic benches and additional seating has been installed following feedback from park users, with accessibility for wheelchair users, prams and pushchairs.
