Shoppers sniff out festive fragrances

-

CANDLES and air sprays which add the aroma of fresh pine needles to artificial Christmas trees were the stars of the show when a Charvil startup launched a range of 40 fragrance candles and diffusers at Shiplake College Christmas Fair held recently.

“This was our maiden event, and we were overwhelmed by the response to our products,” said Jo McNamara, head of sales for the familyrun venture called Simply Nevaeh.

The business is run by her mother, Kathy (production), sister Donna (merchandising), niece Kiera (design) and sister-in-law Emma Street (admin).

The business is named after Donna’s daughter, Nevaeh.

Jo said: “Some of our most popular fragrances sold out before the end of the day, so we had to send two of our team back to base to make some more.

“We also took orders for several huge multi-wick 1.7kg candles at £90 each, while our Christmas Tree scented candles and diffusers were a big hit.

Fresh bread aromas, such as Croissant and Pain Au Chocolat, also appealed to festive homemakers.

The Charvil-based startup have attended several other Christmas fairs duringthe month, and will be Peacock Farm in Bracknell on Wednesday, December and 20.

Other fragrances include:

Black Orchid, Black Plum & Rhubarb, Citron Vert & Bay, Cypress & Grape, English Pear & Freesia, Kouros Dusk, Lemongrass & Ginger, Lime Basil & Mandarin, Ombre Leather, Oud Wood, Rock

Salt & Driftwood, Rose Thorn, Seychelles, Starburst, Tobacco Vanille, Wild Cherry and Winter.

All are available as candles – made from environmentally-friendly coconut and rapeseed wax – reed diffusers or room atomisers.
