ROBINS COLLECT POOLE POINT AFTER GOING DOWN TO 10 MEN

- By ARTHUR STRAND sport@wokingham.today

BRACKNELL TOWN put another point on the board in their mid table battle with Poole Town despite playing the last half an hour with 10 men.

Both teams made a strong start but there were a few stops and starts when the Robins took a free kick and made good progress to the corner flag until the move went blank.

They then made a positive attack and English hit the ball from the corner flag zone but his shot was too high and wild to hit the target.

A well weighted ball went from the Robins’ half into the Dolphins’ penalty area which gave Jordan Esprit a sprint chase, but Thomas was nearer and won the race.

The referee was about to award a penalty when Grant clashed with Holmes but the flag was up for offside, to the annoyance of the visiting support.

As half time drew near, Liam Tack headed in a cross from the right wing after a masterful move along the flank to put Bracknell 1-0 in front.

Only two minutes into the half, Dolfs waged a strong attack and Frank Monk’s quality shot was matched by an equally quality save by Grant and eventually claeared by the Robins.

All was going well for the hosts until Kameron English had his boot too high and received a direct red card with half an hour still to play.

Grant made a crucial save and was soon tested again by Monk who had another attempt that flew over the crossbar.

With Bracknell now under pressure, the visitors drew level when Toby Holmes headed in to make the game all square.

This left the 10 men a whole half an hour to defend against a strong attacking full team seeking a winner.

At the other end another top quality save was made by Grant before Monk hit the framework with almost the last kick of the day as the game ended in a stalemate.
