-

ARE you looking for a New Year’s Resolution this year, you actually want to keep? Volunteering is an amazing way to give something back while giving so much more in return.

Whether you want to gain new skills, get fresh air and exercise, build your confidence, add to your CV, help a cause you believe in or just doing something different, volunteering can tick all of these boxes and more.

To help you find the right charity and right role for you, the Wokingham Volunteer Centre will be hosting a Volunteer Recruitment Fair at the Wokingham Town Hall on Saturday, February 10, from 10am-1pm.

The event is free to the general public and no booking is required, please just drop in at any time for an informal chat with local charities.

The charities attending are very varied, as are the roles, which can fit around work, family and other commitments.

Whether it’s gardening, driving, helping with admin, giving advice, sorting donations, helping at events or spending time chatting to people in need of a friend, there is something for everyone. The charities attending include:

The Link Visiting Scheme, which provides befrienders for elderly people who have become isolated

The Wokingham and Earley Transport Scheme, which provider volunteers drivers for transport for elderly clients for medical appointments and social trips

ABC to Read, which provides trained volunteers to local schools to read with primary school children
