Comic Con prepares for Loddon Valley return

ONE OF Reading’s celebratio­ns of film, TV, and printed media is set to return this spring... and is bringing with it stars of the big screen.

Reading Comic-Con is tipped to take place once again in April and has already announced some of the guest stars who will be making appearance­s.

Scottish actor Michael Carter is one of the first to be announced, whose notable appearance­s include portraying Bib Fortuna in 1983’s Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi.

He appeared in Doctor Who serial The Mind of Evil in 1971 and An American Werewolf in London in 1981, which was his film debut.

Most recently, he portrayed Jaehaerys Targaryen in last year’s Game of Thrones spin-off series, House of the Dragon.

Joining him in making a guest appearance is Femi Taylor, who also appeared in Return of the Jedi as Oola.

Taylor has also made appearance­s in 1987’s Playing Away and the 1998 film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s stage show, Cats.

As well as its guest stars, the event will boast display units celebratin­g some of the biggest media franchises, including a Groot prop display from Guardians of the Galaxy, a Pod Racer display from Star Wars, and a Pokemon display.

Fans are invited to dress-up and cosplay and there will be stalls selling media and merchandis­e.

Reading Comic-Con is returning to Loddon Valley Leisure Centre on Saturday, April 6.
