Housebuilder backs Scouts on African adventure

-

SCOUTS in Wokingham are closer to an African adventure, thanks to a donation for a housebuilder.

David Wilson Homes has given £1,500 to Wokingham

District Scouts to help fund their participation in Project Africa, an expedition to Malawi later this year.

It aims to help young people understand the lives of those in different cultures and to provide on-the-ground support in Malawi with building and infrastructure projects.

Scouts who attend Project Africa are expected to raise their own funds to cover the costs of the trip, including travel costs and support individuals who are unable to afford equipment.

The donation comes from

The Barratt Foundation, the housebuilder’s charity partnership, which supports children, young people and disadvantaged groups wherever Barratt Developments

PLC operates across the UK.

Stephanie Gould, district chair of Wokingham District Scouts, said: “It is fantastic to have this generous support from Barratt David Wilson Southern Counties. The donation will give young people the opportunity to experience a oncein-a-lifetime international event, and to come together with fellow Scouts from other countries.”

Alex Dowling, head of sales and marketing at Barratt David Wilson Southern Counties, added: “We are proud to support the Wokingham District Scouts, which provides incredible experiences and educational opportunities for young people in the area. We hope everyone enjoys their trip.”

Barratt David Wilson Southern Counties is currently building homes at Finchwood Park development.
