Approval for pavilion

-

PLANS have been approved for the creation of an outbuilding that will provide sports facilities in Wargrave.

Wokingham Borough Council last week gave the go ahead for an application from Wargrave Cricket Club for the structure at King’s Field, adjacent to Wargrave Recreation Ground.

The field is owned by

Wargrave Parish Council and forms part of Wargrave Recreation Ground.

It hosts a number of football pitches, a BMX track and a more recently permitted cricket wicket.

The application sought approval for the erection of an outbuilding to provide sports and recreational facilities for the eastern field.

In particular, it would provide similar facilities to the existing outbuilding in the western field mentioned above in that it would internally provide two sets of training rooms, a lobby/ kitchenette, disabled toilet and an umpire’s room.

The building will be sited on the south-eastern corner of the field, adjacent to the access track, and would form a close association with the cricket pitch/ wicket approved by the Council in February 2022 which it would be primarily used for.

However, some internal facilities (changing rooms, toilet, kitchenette) would be used in conjunction with other sports that occur on the field, for example the local football teams.

The building will have a footprint of 6.35m by 8.75m, and will include a 3.6m deep raised patio area with a retractable roof cover.

Wokingham Borough Council granted approval on January 9, 2024, following a consultation period where no objections were received.
