Open and shut case
Nearly everyone I talk to is extremely irritated by the number of roadworks and their apparently uncontrolled nature.
However, most think that nothing can be done about it.
Because of this, I vowed that I would not write to Wokingham
Today on this subject again but, when the blood donation session at Easthampstead Baptist Church that I was due to attend earlier this week was cancelled and I found out by phoning the Blood Donation Service that this was due to roadworks, it was just too much! On top of this, the A321 had a road closed notice on it, when the road was open.
A day or so later, a Focus leaflet came through the door. The LDs were crowing about their “achievements”, which included a promise to do something about the tricky road junction where the Finchampstead War Memorial used to be.
A friend of mine contacted the Council when the War Memorial was due to be moved and suggested that the layout of the junction be improved at the same time. This fell on deaf ears and now there will be further disruption of traffic, while the junction is altered. This is on top of the disruption that will ensue when the woke-inspired alterations to California crossroads are being done.
This is all almost enough to induce me to vote Tory, which is really saying something; indeed, I would probably do so, except tor the fact that Finchampstead is going to be incorporated into the Wokingham constituency.
There may be something in the opinion that all political parties are as bad as each other. None of them appear to have any interest in helping the squeezed middle of society.
If you are a member of certain minorities or, if you are rich enough to afford expensive lawyers or an executive of a large company, there seems to be almost nothing that you can’t get away with.
