VOLUNTEER CORNER

-

THE Salvation Army is your local church and community centre. We focus on looking after the homeless and vulnerable in society. In the Wokingham corps, we have a very specific focus on those who need help with housing, benefits and general support in their everyday lives.

We require an assistant support volunteer.

This role is to help our support worker. The candidate needs to be IT literate, and willing to learn about all the support offered to our service users, including accessing the correct benefits, and signposting to the correct agencies.

The volunteer must be willing to be DBS checked. We deal with vulnerable people, who sometimes present as challenging and some are rough sleepers.

Volunteers will need to be patient and empathetic.

We are open three mornings a week 10-1, the role itself is very flexible and the volunteer can help on just one morning or all mornings if they wish.

Girlguiding Wokingham is looking for volunteers to join an established volunteer to open a new Guide unit for girls aged between 10 and 14 in central Wokingham.

Become an inspiring role model for our members - and help empower girls to be their best.

Our weekly unit meetings are at the heart of Girlguiding.

When you volunteer at them you’ll have fun, get messy, meet new people and run activities that help our members discover their potential.

What’s involved: helping to plan and deliver activities that are based on the Girlguiding program, attending weekly unit meetings. communicating with parents, carers and other Girlguiding volunteers, managing the unit finances and completing safeguarding and other training.

As well as looking for volunteers to help open this new unit, Girlguiding is looking for volunteers across our existing units.

We’re flexible and volunteering can be arranged to fit around a busy lifestyle, you do not need to be available to attend every week.

If you are interested, please get in touch.

Home-Start supports ordinary parents going through extraordinary times.

Parents can feel exhausted and overwhelmed by the stresses of family life, particularly if we have little support from family and friends when we need it most.

Home-Start has been described as ‘armbands in deep water’ because we offer a lifeline to parents who feel overwhelmed and need support, reassurance and friendship by providing them with home visiting Volunteers.
