- By NIGEL MALTBY sport@wokingham.today

IN another exciting week of action in Division One, SONNING COMMON & PEPPARD A kept up the pressure on KINGFISHER A with a 9-1 victory over SONNING SPORTS A.

Daniel Moses won his three but not without a great fight by Dave Croucher who forced a fifth end, but could not avoid losing his 100% average, made worse when Gary Morgan inflicted his second defeat of the evening.

Kingfisher A won 8-2, but young Theo

Kniep impressed for KINGFISHER C in taking the scalp of Martin Adams as well as pipping Dmitry Khakhamov while Hari Gehlot remained unbeaten. Almost as impressive was Danny Dockree’s double as SONNING COMMON & PEPPARD C succumbed at home to Kingfisher B 2-8. He won over both Julian Telford and Graham Mendick but Rajan Waterman proved one match too far to gain his maximum.

The midtable clash between hosts TIDMARSH A and TILEHURST RBL A ended in a 5-5 draw. Lee Calcutt performed excellently for the home side taking his three and teaming up for the doubles with Antony Baker who added the additional point.

Kate Maksimenko played up for the visitors as both she and Jon Willis won two each beating Antony, in doing so outscoring colleague Keith

Winter. In the relegation battle Mike Douglas performed well for KINGFISHER D at SONNING COMMON & PEPPARD D taking all three of his singles, ably backed up by Ajai Kamath with two, losing out to Simon Berry. It also ended 5-5.

Division Two league leaders READING FC beat TIDMARSH C 8-2 in a match which saw FC’s Mike Childs lose his 100% record when he lost 11-7 in the fifth to Tidmarsh’s new player Sayali Arun Bendkhale. Second placed KINGFISHER F also won by beating KINGFISHER G 7-3 with Clive

Gold getting a maximum for the F team.

PANGBOURNE WMC lost 6-4 at home to TIDMARSH B with Barry Carer and Toby

Usher both getting maximums for Tidmarsh. Bottom club KINGFISHER H were beaten 10-0 by SPRINGFIELD A with their cause not being helped by fielding an ineligible player.

In Division Three the first match of the new year saw TILEHURST METHODISTS B whitewash KINGFISHER J 10-0. Rohit Sengupta made his first treble and got his well-deserved Player of the Match status.

The highlight was the doubles where the home team came from 2-1 down to win in the fifth: 11-7 12-14 8-11 11-9 11-7.

TILEHURST METHODISTS C lost 10-0 at home to OLOP B. It was a bad day at the office for the Tilehurst team as the match was almost onesided.

OLOP C won 7-3 against TILEHURST

METHODISTS B. Away team Tilehurst put in a great effort to win three valuable points from a formidable team.

Captain Binit Bhaskar was the POM for OLOP with this treble.

Current leaders KINGFISHER I team won

8-2 at home game against OLOP D. Despite the margin it was a close match as four games ended in fifth.

KINGFISHER J lost 10-0 against Sonning Common & Peppard E. It was another unlucky day for the home team, and it’s proven that they struggle when their key player Eapen John is not playing. Tilehurst Methodists A beat SONNING SPORTS B 7-3 with Eric Van Looy making his second consecutive treble.

SONNING SPORTS D continued their march on at the top of the division Four table by winning 8-2 at OUR LADY OF PEACE F with James Miller gaining a three straight maximum.

SONNING COMMON & PEPPARD F stayed with them by winning 7-3 at KINGFISHER K, Graeme Streets and Oliver Bonser both gained trebles.
