Wokingham United Charities seeks trustees to help its work

-

A CHARITY whose mission is to relieve poverty and enhance quality of life in the borough is looking for people to help steer its work.

Wokingham United Charities seeks passionate volunteers to join its Board of Trustees.

“Our current volunteer trustees are amazing,” said Wokingham United Charities (WUC) office and grants administrator,

Susanna Jennings.

“They are all busy people, with many volunteering hats on, and WUC is fortunate to benefit from their valuable experience.

“But there will come a time when they retire or step down, and we will be left with a gap.”

“We need people who are passionate about helping the borough, and who have some time to give.”

The opportunity is open for already experienced trustees, as well as people willing to take their first steps in a charitable governance role.

WUC is especially keen to hear from people with experience of law, finance, housing, and marketing.

They might be a qualified solicitor with experience in property, charity, or contract law.

Or they could be someone with experience of financial strategy, investment, and accounts, someone with social housing experience, or a person who understands increasing brand awareness and promotion.

New trustees will help to drive the charity’s direction, so although these skills are looked for, the group says that it is more important that they find the right people to join the organisation.

Wokingham United Charities works to empower change, drive impact, and create a brighter future for those in hardship in Wokingham.

It provides grants and funding to help tackle community issues, to enhance the lives of those in need, and to support the charities that help them.
