TOP TEAMS CONTINUE TO DOMINATE DIVISION ONE WITH EMPHATIC WINS

- By Nigel Maltby sport@wokingham.today

BOTH of the top teams in Division One continued their dominance with emphatic 10-0 victories.

SONNING COMMON & PEPPARD A swept aside their

D team with Ian Cole, Jason Roberts and Ed Lush inflicting the damage, despite Simon Berry making Ian and Jason work for their maximums in close encounters.

It was plain sailing as well for Martin Adams, Hari Gehlot and Ross Saxby of KINGFISHER

A to whitewash SONNING

SPORTS A.

KINGFISHER B’S Prayrit Ahluwalia won the battle of the young emerging talent against KINGFISHER C’S Theo Kniep, who went on to beat Graham Mendick. 6-4 was the final result.

Jumping up to fourth place, TILEHURST RBL A’S regular trio of Keith Winter, Jon Willis and Marc Brent won two each against visitors KINGFISHER D. Marc and Jon lost to Mike Douglas and Ajai Kamath performed well to stop Keith.

TIDMARSH A enjoyed an 8-2 home victory over SONNING COMMON & PEPPARD B

despite losing both of the fifth setters. Matt Stone did well to edge Antony Baker while Dale Ballard was pipped by Daniel Artene 7-11 10-12 11-8 11-7 12-14.

Second placed KINGFISHER F just edged out OUR LADY OF PEACE A 6-4 in division 2 with Akeel Mir getting a good maximum for Kingfisher including beating Darek Kaminski 14-12 7-11 11-6 5-11 11-9 in the fifth.

TIDMARSH B drew 5-5 with TILEHURST RBL B. Kate Maksimenko got a maximum for Tilehurst but she was pushed very hard by Mike Alstrop before she beat him in five 8-11 11-5 9-11 11-8 11-2.

TIDMARSH C won 9-1 at

bottom team KINGFISHER H,

Kingfisher’s Rupesh Ahluwalia had a good win in four against Sayali Bendkhale11-9 7-11

11-9 11-7. Ian Wu and Toby Usher both got maximums for Tidmarsh.

Division Three leaders

KINGFISHER I went to

TILEHURST METHODISTS B and in a tough match Kingfisher I maintained their position at the top despite Nigel Rowland’s solid performance and Rohit Sengupta’s improving performance earning three points for the home team despite their 7-3 loss.

SONNING COMMON AND

PEPPARD E hosted TIDMARSH D and Ray Webb’s impressive treble was not enough for the team as his teammates failed to join him with some wins as the Sonning Common team strengthened their position to finish on the upper side of the table after winning 7-3. SONNING SPORTS B defeated TILEHURST METHODISTS C 6-4. Despite the treble from

Lewis Oke, he could not save his Tilehurst team from defeat.
