New taproom to meet demand
FINCHAMPSTEAD-BASED
Elusive Brewing has opened a new taproom, and added additional capacity to cope with demand.
Having taken on the lease of a unit in Marino Way in October, its new space is complete with retro video game screens, a retail area and nine beers on tap – brewed on site in the adjacent brewery.
The taproom was officially opened by Wokingham Town mayor, Cllr Sally Gurney.
During the launch event, Elusive Brewing was presented with two awards by the Berkshire South East branch of CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) for its Level Up and Oregon Trail products, which won gold and silver medals respectively in the CAMRA London and South
East Regional Champion Beer of Britain competition.
Level Up now progresses to the national final later this month.
Since opening in 2016, Elusive Brewing has won more than 40 awards for its beers, including a very prestigious national Gold medal for the flagship IPA Oregon Trail at the World Beer Awards in 2021.
Andy Parker, founder and head brewer at Elusive, said:
“It’s a really exciting time for us as a business.
“Having survived the testing times of the pandemic, we managed to navigate what was a very tough trading year for small businesses in 2023, and emerge in a position to invest in growing the business by taking on more space and adding capacity.
“We can only do that with the continued support of our local customers and, being on the doorstep of the Arborfield Green development, we hope to welcome many more new visitors in 2024.
“We’ve worked hard to create a family friendly, welcoming and inclusive space and we’re very proud to be part of the thriving and supportive local community in Finchampstead.”
The Elusive Brewing Taproom is open every Friday and Saturday, and Elusive’s beers are available to purchase online or from local independent pubs, bars and shops.
