Community grants open

-

A FUNERAL director is searching for groups who are doing amazing work in the local community.

Miles & Daughters launched its first Community Fund last year, and assisted charities and other good causes with £6,000 worth of funding.

A second round of applications is now open for groups to apply for amounts from £300 to £1,500.

Those applying need to demonstrate they will benefit those who live within a three-mile radius of Miles & Daughters Funeral Directors branches in Winnersh, Reading, Whitley Wood, Twyford, Bracknell, Crowthorne, Maidenhead and Tadley.

Sarah White said: “The first round of the Miles & Daughters Community Fund was a great success.

“We supported five brilliant causes with close to £6,000, and we hope to continue the relationships we’ve built with them so far.

“Now we want to hear from more projects who need support in what is a difficult time for charities, not just here, but across the country.

“I am so proud we have been able to offer this opportunity for the community.”

Miles & Daughters Funeral Directors was founded by Adam Miles back in 1999. It is now part of Funeral Partners, the country’s third largest funeral business.

Grants will be available to projects which align with one or more of the fund categories which are health, education, employment opportunities and poverty or social deprivation.

Each entry will be judged by a panel from Miles & Daughters and an independent panellist.

The window for applications, which opened on February 1, closes on 15 March.

Those applying must demonstrate how they will improve the quality of life for local residents. A third window for applications will open in July.
