Spot the Dog is getting ready for a birthday party, and children of all ages are invited to join him.

Based on the Eric Hill books Where Is Spot? and Happy Birthday Spot, the new show brings the pup and his friends to life in an interactive and accessible show for ages two upwards.

It will include integrated Makaton, free party hats, songs, dancing and interactive party games.

Spot, has been an integral part of early childhood since he first appeared in the classic lift-theflap storybook Where’s Spot? in 1980.

With his inquisitive nature, sense of curiosity, boundless energy, and simple shapes and colours, Spot helps families, babies and toddlers explore the world around them.

With more than 65 million books sold worldwide, Spot has been a family favourite for over 40 years, with books translated into over 60 languages he consistently remains within the top five bestselling picture books for Penguin Random House UK.

Thomas Merrington, creative director at Penguin Ventures, said: “We are thrilled that Spot will be returning to the stage in this brand-new adaptation.

“I am certain that young audiences will love seeing Spot brought to life in this accessible and inclusive show. Guy Unsworth and Sam Bradshaw Productions have really created something wonderful in taking Spot from page to stage”.

Writer and director Guy Unsworth added: “Spot’s stories are filled with warmth, fun and lots of love so I can’t wait to share this timeless classic on stage with songs, party hats and Spot’s animal friends”.

The show is at South Hill Park in Bracknell at 2pm and 4pm on Sunday, March 10. Tickets cost £17.50, or £65 for a family of four.
