BURGHFIELD WIN THE CUP, GBLA ON TARGET AS SWORDS HIT SIX

Charles Twelftree Trophy Final

BURGHFIELD were crowned as the Berks & Bucks FA Charles Twelftree Trophy winners after they defeated Maidenhead Town in the final.

The Fielders broke through in the ninth minute when Sam Guze got on the end of Matt Symington’s pass and slotted past the keeper. With a little over 10 minutes left to play, Burghfield had one hand on the trophy when they doubled their money through Tom McClellan who fired into the top corner to make it 2-0.

That’s how the score ended as Burghfield got their hands on the trophy.

Premier South

BRACKNELL TOWN put themselves back in play-off contention with a 95th minute winning penalty from captain Ashley Lodge.

Merthyr Town scored the opening goal of the game just 13 minutes in, but their lead lasted just five minutes when Lodge headed his team level.

The Robins went in front through Evans, but this time Merthyr replied instantly to make it 2-2.

The game looked headed for a draw before Bracknell were awarded a penalty in stoppage time which was put away by the skipper.

Bracknell are in seventh place on 49 points from 33 games, three points outside of the play-off places.

Isthmian South Central

BINFIELD were beaten narrowly 3-2 on the road at Thatcham Town.

Tyler D’Cruz and Benjamin Stallard were on the scoresheet for the Moles.

Binfield are in 20th spot on 16 points from 29 games.

Oliver Harris’ 36th minute goal was enough to give them victory away at Southall.

Combined Counties Premier North

READING CITY added three points on the road with a successful trip to Ardley Town.

Eddie Lee and Tyler Ronbinson were on the scoresheet to see the Cityzens to a 2-1 win.

Reading are in 11th place on 35 points from 22 games.

Combined Counties Division One

BERKS COUNTY cemented their place in third with a six- goal showing against

Brook House. Sid Gbla hit a stunning 28-minute hat-trick and continued his incredible afternoon by adding a fourth in the 38th minute to give his side a resounding lead.

Berks went into the break

5-1 ahead and added a sixth through Leslie Sackey to secure a 6-2 success.

County are on 67 points from 31 games, two points behind second placed British Airways and three above fourth placed Yateley United with two games in hand.

EVERSLEY & CALIFORNIA

increased their chances of a playoff finish with a goalless draw against British Airways.

Thames Valley Premier League

BURGHFIELD moved into fifth position with a 3-2 triumph over READING YMCA.

Joel Burton opened the scoring for YMCA before Burghfield hit back with strikes from Jack Bowyer, Elliott Telford and Teo Atik.

Luke Maze scored to make it 3-2, but Burghfield held onto the points.

WARGRAVE continued their winning streak with a 2-0 away win against Henley Town.

FINCHAMPST­EAD kept their title hopes intact with a 2-0 win on their visit to Slough Heating Laurecians.

Nathan Collins and Callum Vallance scored for Finch to move them onto 32 points from 16 games.
