SELLES: ‘THERE’S NO TIME TO BE DISAPPOINTED’

-

READING manager Ruben Selles has said there is no time to be ‘disappointed’ after the Royals lost late on to Wycombe Wanderers.

The Royals dropped down the League One standings, but stay above the relegation zone.

“First-half we were not near to being ourselves,” said Selles.

“We suffered in situations where we usually don’t suffer, we were disconnected in some moments.

“The second-half we were the team on the pitch that wanted to do things and the best team on the pitch, but sometimes that happens.

“We were able to comeback to

1-1 and then from one of their few attacks in the second-half came a penalty that we can easily avoid.

“The game was not there for us so we decided to fix it and made a couple of substitutions and they made their impact in the game and gave us the possibility to be back in the game.”

Selles admitted the team were disappointed.

He continued: “They are a group that feels a lot whether that is winning or losing.

“They knew the first-half we were not there. It’s about us as a team. Second, we managed to play a very decent second-half and lost in a very specific action.

“The atmosphere was fantastic. The crowd was with us even though we weren’t at our best in the first-half. The second half you could feel it every time when we were attacking.

“There’s no time to be disappointed. It’s time to analyse, prepare the games ahead and try to get the three points.”

Selles also spoke about defender Clinton Mola who gave away the penalty which led to Wycombe taking the three points.

“We analyse the game in the same way that people analyse the game. He analyses himself in the same way and knows that mistake cost us the penalty and the penalty was the definition of the game. “But it is a team. If we score the second goal or go to the duel in that action and the centrebacks makes a clearance and if we support that action better then that would not happen.”

“When one player makes that mistake, then it’s all of our mistakes. He is feeling a lot from that action and what we need to do is be supportive to each other.

“He makes that mistake that is obvious, I make my mistakes and everyone makes their mistakes.”
