Woodley Scouts upgrade means bags more outdoor fun
THE 2ND Woodley Scout Group is all set to offer a wide range of activities for its Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, with new opportunities planned for the coming months.
The group has recently installed new ground surfaces at their outside activity area to meet the needs of all its youngsters, and says that feedback from members has been very positive.
The 2nd Woodley Scouts are keen fundraisers, and have recently donated the proceeds from their tombola stall to the Woodley town mayor’s chosen charity.
Woodley town mayor, Cllr Janet Sartorel, said: “I’m very grateful to the 2nd Woodley Scout Group for their fundraising efforts which will support Woodley Lunch Bunch.
“The charity helps families in Woodley facing difficult challenges, by providing a packed lunch for children during the school holidays.”
The 2nd Woodley Scouts also provide supported places for youngsters whose families are facing difficult challenges.

Chas Randle, group scout leader 2nd Woodley Scouts said: “We give every member a chance to take part in the various group, district, county and national events and activities regardless of their capabilities.
“We encourage every member to participate, and we provide appropriate training and support to ensure their safety.”
As well as crafts, puppet shows, camping and outdoor challenges, community work, fundraising events, first aid training, and life skills, 2nd Woodley Scouts can take part in more unusual activities.
These include opportunities to try indoor sky diving, dragon boat racing, and television programme production.
The group’s motto is: Do more, learn more, be more.
Beavers, for six- to eightyear-olds, meet on Tuesdays to have adventures, play games, help others and explore the great outdoors.
Cubs, aged eight to 10, meet on Mondays to learn about the world, take part in interesting activities and make friends.
Scouts of between 10 and 14, meet on Tuesdays to find answers to big questions, learn life skills, and try things they won’t get to do at home or school.
All groups meet at the Scout Headquarters, Vauxhall Drive.
