Jason’s 50th is marked with a marathon

- By EMMA MERCHANT emerchant@wokingham.today

A WOKINGHAM man will take part in the London Marathon this weekend – and it will be a day to remember as it helps him celebrate his 50th.

Jason Law is running for Parents And Children Together (PACT), an adoption support charity that provides services, specialist therapeutic sessions and community projects.

Jason, who works in business security at Invesco, said: “I have run previously for PACT and wanted to mark my 50th celebrations by raising more resources for them.”

He is one of five members of Team PACT who will be running the 26.2 mile route around the streets of London.

No stranger to running, he has already completed 10 marathons, one ultramarathon and several triathlons.

In November he plans to climb Kilimanjaro.

He said: “Training is not going too badly. I’m doing nowhere near as much as I used to, but I’m hoping a bit of age and experience makes up for it.”

Jason hopes to reach a target of £1,600 with his run, and is asking for supporters to visit his fundraising page.

His employer, Invesco, will double the total amount donated.

When asked what he is most looking forward to, he said: “The support from the crowd, a sense of achievement, but of course, the finishing line and a cold drink.”

PACT has been building and strengthening families since 1911.

The charity provides adoption services and lifelong adoption support.

It also empowers women who face multiple disadvantages to make positive changes to their lives through its Alana House Community Project, and it supports children to heal from the trauma of domestic abuse through its Bounce Back 4 Kids programme.

Chief executive Natausha van Vliet, said: “We are delighted to have a team of incredible people representing PACT in the London Marathon.

“Not only will they be running 26.2 miles, but are working hard to fundraise so that we can continue our important work supporting families, children and women.”

Jason will take part in the London Marathon on Sunday, April 21.
