Let’s work together
I read Cllr Pauline Jorgensen’s article ( Wokingham Today, April
11) for the Conservatives and Cllr Stephen Conway’s article and, as leaders, it was a contrast between attack by the Conservatives and collaborative and consensus partnership working by the
Lib Dems.
I think the residents in Wokingham want their councillors to work together to solve the serious problems of high demands on local services like supporting frail elderly and disabled children in a situation where the Conservative government has a flawed funding formula which Rishi Sunak put in place as Chancellor where rich areas get money and poor areas don’t.
Wokingham, like many places, is at a decision point and crossroads if you like, the residents have to decide who and how they want decisions to be made on important local matters.
All Councillors should work in partnership for the good of the people that put them there. Residents don’t want petty party squabbling which leaves hot air in the Council Chamber.
Residents want serious people to work towards serious decisions to produce solutions to problems affecting their communities.
If elected on May 2, I will work with all my honourable colleagues with a sense of duty that was clearly shown as a shining example to us by our late Queen.
We need serious people for serious problems.
Cllr Conway has the right approach, partnership, working together with trust and respect, it is there we will find the solutions the people want and with this approach, we will solve our problems.
