The Notebook. but I was hired by [director] nick Cassavetes, by his own admission, because I was the wrong guy. He said he picked me because I wasn’t handsome and I wasn’t cool. He felt that I was crazy enough to actually build a house for a girl I only met one summer. and it sort of changed people’s perspectives about me. I guess it opened a lot of doors for me.
my early memories… the biggest influence was probably my uncle. He moved in with us when I was a kid and became an elvis impersonator. the whole house was taken over by this show he was putting on. I wanted to find some way to keep that feeling. so I joined a dance company for a while, then films began having an impact on me.
my significant others… your whole life, you hear what it’s like to have kids, and all the clichés are true. but until you
If I have any particular appeal to women, maybe it’s because I listen more than other guys do and appreciate how they think and feel about things. I grew up in a family of strong women and I owe any capacity I have to understand women to my mother and big sister. they taught me to respect women.
First Man… It’s really hard in a film to convey just how small these capsules were and just how terrifying it was hurtling through space in these. there were 400,000 people who had made this possible and you get a sense that no one wanted to be the one that was the weak link.
