“On Christmas Day I don’t stop eating until I go to bed”

-

Joe WiCks, aka the body Coach, lives in london with his girlfriend rosie Jones and their daughter, indie, whom they welcomed in July. growing up, my parents used to put out three different piles of presents, one in each corner of the room, for me and my two brothers. then Mum would use flour to create footprints on the floor, coming from the chimney. We used to be so excited, waking up on christmas Day to see if Father christmas had been.

i remember one disastrous Christmas though – i was 10 years old and mum

cooked the dinner. she doesn’t mind me saying this, but she’s a terrible cook and she left the turkey in the oven for hours! It was like a dried-up old boot by the time she took it out. totally inedible, so we just had vegetables instead!

the most unusual tradition we follow in my house is allowing ourselves one present on Christmas eve. We choose a small gift each and open it before dinner. It’s lovely because it gets everyone excited for the next day.

people always ask how to stay lean at Christmas, my advice is don’t –

it’s Christmas, have a blowout. I do a massive roast plus loads of puddings, such as chocolate fondant and christmas pudding. then we’ll move onto the cheese platter and loads of chocolates. I don’t stop eating until I go to bed.

the one thing it wouldn’t be Christmas

without is loved ones. this year is our first christmas with Indie and I can’t wait. everyone has fallen in love with her, so having all our family together is going to be extra special. Joe’s 30 Minute Meals by Joe Wicks (Bluebird) is out now.
