Life itself
Be the first to see the star-studded Life Itself at a very special preview screening on 10 December
We are all part of a greater story… so get ready to lose yourself in this celebration of life and love that’s packed with your favourite A-listers. Life Itself is a film that explores the human condition and all of its complications by following multiple couples over numerous generations – all connected by a single event.
At the heart of the story are Will (Oscar Isaac) and Abby (Olivia Wilde), a young New York couple, who go from college romance to marriage and the birth of their first child. The unexpected twists of their journey create reverberations that echo over continents and through lifetimes. The latest film from highly acclaimed director and writer Dan Fogelman (This Is Us; Crazy, Stupid, Love), it examines the perils and rewards of everyday life with a stellar international ensemble.
Humour, poignancy and love resonate throughout this tale, told in and out of twists of time. While the characters may face a multitude of challenges, the film is laced throughout with the wisecracking humour of New York. As Will’s mother, Linda (Jean Smart), says, “Don’t take this the wrong way, all I ever wanted was for Will to marry a woman with dead parents so we don’t have to share the grandchildren.”
Meanwhile, Spanish landowner Vincent Saccione (Antonio Banderas) kicks off the subplot, which cleverly intertwines with Will and Abby’s destiny; therapist Dr Cait Morris (Annette Bening) hovers over the story; and rising star Olivia Cooke (Vanity Fair, Ready
Player One), also features in the film.
Life Itself will have you crying in one moment and laughing the next but the message, ultimately, is that although life may bring us to our knees, if we look hard enough, we will find love.
