Sarah Burton
modest, unassuming – and designer of one of the most famous wedding dresses of all time, Sarah joined Alexander mcQueen as an intern. She worked her way up to become the designer’s trusted deputy in the ateliers, and following mcQueen’s tragic suicide in 2010, was dragged reluctantly into the spotlight as the house’s new creative director. She’s brought a new softness to the hard-edged mcQueen look, with diaphanous dresses scattered with flowers. Nods to her own celtic heritage have seen her explore folkloric embroidery and Arran knitwear.
