Hair History I’ve never been what you would call adventurous with my hair colour. I was blonde when I was small, light mouse in my teens then I noticed my first grey hair at 23 and was mortified. Eventually I was dyeing it in six-weekly sessions for many years, but after I had my son I was in a busy job with lots of travel so I started to think about letting it go natural. I had so many questions – would it age me? Would I be judged? Would I no longer be attractive?

My colour now Mathew Alexander has been my hairdresser for 12 years. He helped me do the grey thing properly, going blonder with highlights, which we phased out gradually as the grey came through, using toners to keep it ashy with a pearly finish. Having grey hair is all about the cut – you need to keep it simple and chic.

Product Picks At home I always use davines alchemic silver shampoo, £24, as well as redken clean Maniac clean-touch Micellar shampoo, £16.50, once a week to deep-clean. I use so many styling products – I love aveda texture tonic, £22.
