Hair History My hair has always been very dark brown. The presumption often with dark hair is that it is black, a very common mistake. My first job as an assistant at Vidal Sassoon opened my world to colour – I had peacock blue hair for years.

My colour now My colourists are David Adams and Jason Hogan at Josh Wood Colour – I am very lucky to work with the best colourists in the world. They do balayage, creating lightness at the ends of the hair. The texture of my hair is spiral corkscrews so by only colouring the ends I keep the condition amazing. I gloss every time I have colour either with l’oréal diarichesse, £55, or redken shades EQ, from £20. Product Picks I use Josh wood colour Everything Mask, £15, once a week to maintain gloss. As a colour expert I see many clients overwashing hair. The more you wash, the faster the colour fades, and the drier the hair. I’ve been co-washing for 30 years – wash once a week then inbetween use conditioner to cleanse the hair. I like Palmer’s coconut oil Formula co-wash cleansing conditioner, £4.
