easy-on-the-eye yet elegant interior against a largely neutral backdrop.

“I tried to use a cool neutral, chalky palette in the main areas of the house so that they flowed, but I also incorporated accents of colour, such as the deep blue in the living room, for cosiness and warmth. The kitchen is the heart of the home and in the middle of the house, so I kept it neutral too, so that it flows into the hall.”

The hall has instant wow factor on entering the barn as huge windows flood the room with light. It acts as both a summer lounge and a work space. “Being so light, it’s a very positive space to be in, no matter what the weather. It has a stunning view to come home to each day when you walk through the door.”

When Zoe and Jonah had first viewed the house, there was no staircase leading upstairs, so it was only when the house was finished that they realised that the sun rises over the Peak District hills. “The view from our bedroom is amazing. It’s so beautiful looking out of the window first thing in the morning.

“It’s a lovely experience living here, especially when you come back from holiday, as it’s calming, peaceful and feels different. It felt like we were on holiday here for a long time. We love it and we love the views.”
