‘I’M SO GLAD MUM SAID YES – TO EVERYTHING’

Daisy van der Lande: “I told Mum upfront that this was my trip and she’d have to go along with what I’d planned. For the first time in years she would have to relax and go with the flow – and she did! I learnt a huge amount about Mum while travelling. I saw her unwind properly for the first time in years, and I love how, despite being 52, she had the most amazing ‘yes man’ attitude, getting on board with everything I threw at her. I also learnt how much medication Mum is still on every day and how her body can’t do everything it used to, which made her get-up-and-go attitude all the more commendable.

I was initially apprehensive about spending so much one-on-one time with Mum, but it’s fair to say when the time came for her to go home, there was not one part of me that wanted her to leave.” w&h
