‘I WAS YOUNG AND HE HAD HAIR!’
I’ve always been a big fan of Elton John and was fortunate enough to meet him in 1976, when he had hair and I was young! This photo was taken at a charity event at The Dorchester Hotel in London when I was 25. He was so charming and I became a big fan of his eccentric style.
I love so many of his songs but the one that resonates with me most is Don’t Go Breaking My Heart. My boyfriend at the time enjoyed karaoke, so when we were on holiday in Skiathos he asked me to sing this with him. I’m no singer, but as I could half-sing, half-talk my way through Kiki Dee’s bit I gave it a go. It was a lot of fun. I’m not sure I broke his heart – but we did eventually break up…
