WHAT TO DO
✢ See your GP to check for nutritional deficiencies. You may need blood tests and other checks.
✢ Most hair loss stops by itself eventually. ✢ Cognitive behavioural therapy (talking treatment) may help you to adapt.
✢ Ask to see a dermatologist for expert advice, rather than spending money on products and ‘miracle cures’.
✢ Use sunscreen on scalp areas where hair is thin/absent, to protect against burning and sun damage.
✢ For some conditions, a wig is available on NHS prescription.
✢ For severe hair loss, contact Alopecia UK (alopecia.org.uk,
0800 101 7025 ).
