‘Never stop exploring your capabilities’
Jane Peel, 55, began a diploma at the Royal School of Needlework, a world away from her previous career as a part-time specialist teacher. ‘Feeling uninspired by my career, I decided to follow my lifelong interest in embroidery, and explore potential jobs in the field. I realised I’d need further education to progress, so enrolled on a three-year course. Now, halfway through my diploma, I’ve rediscovered my creativity and a joy for learning.
‘I haven’t reached the end of my journey yet, but the process re-energised my desire to learn, which feels significant at this point in my life. I’m now creating works of art, and I’m finding the experience incredibly uplifting. Never stop learning and exploring your capabilities.’
