Beginning behind the Angel pub in the village of Pontneddfechan, this ancient woodland trail follows the footsteps of local lad Elidir who, legend has it, discovered a cave here that led to a secret fairy kingdom. There are four waterfalls including Sgwd Gwladys (Lady’s Falls), and the Sgwd Ddwli Isaf and Sgwd Ddwli Uchaf (the Lower and Upper Gushing Falls). Walk to the ‘secret’ waterfall, about half a mile upstream of Sgwd Gwladys, to view Sgwd Einion Gam – a secluded 70ft waterfall. exploresouthwales.com
