‘We used deep colours and velvet fabrics that showcased the fabric design to evoke an opulent mood’
choices. ‘We learned a lot from the work of Siobhan Hayles, who did the interior design for the barn and helped out with some of the rooms in the farmhouse,’ Emily says. ‘We saw what worked when putting fabrics and colours together, and we were keen to experiment. Hanging up artwork was a must, and we were also able to indulge
hallway and a splashback in the kitchen.’
Sumptuous fabrics abound with House of Hackney designs in the main bedroom (recalling the London borough the couple previously lived in), Designers Guild
throughout. The chic farmhouse is sensual and inviting and, after such a long period of renovating, the family were thrilled to relax into their new country lifestyle. ‘It took a few years but we’ve got the dream home we wanted. It’s a wonderful way of life for the children; there’s space to roam and be more with nature for them and us.’ ✢ Boutique eco holiday home Willows Rest can be booked via willowsrest.co.uk
