WHY NOT?

Victorious Victoria [October] says Victoria Derbyshire had a no-nonsense approach to breast cancer and never asked ‘why me?’ This made it sound as if asking ‘why me?’ is negative. I’m sure lots of women with breast cancer will have thought that, and shouldn’t be left to feel they are weak. I lost a friend to breast cancer. Although she was strong, she did ask, ‘why me?’ Donna

LATER LEARNING

I was very interested in your feature on later-life learning in the October issue. I started an Open University degree course in 2015 and graduated this May at the age of 77! It has been hard work but so worthwhile. My motto has been, ‘I’ve started, so I’ll finish.’ Writing essays and doing the research has been fascinating. It’s never too late to learn something new. UNSUPPORTIVE STUDENTS

Congratulations to all who have had such successful returns to education [October]. This is not always the case. Other older students and I found it lonely, with younger students saying we should not take up places to pursue a ‘vanity project’. Gillian

AFFORDABLE BEAUTY?

I buy w&h every month, but much of the content is only relevant to those with a significant disposable income. I used to love trying high-end beauty products and looking at the fashion, but very little is attainable since I was made redundant and my husband was diagnosed with cancer. I love articles like w&h Beauty Awards 2021 [October], but could you consider a best-budget option too?

READER, I MARRIED HIM

You ran a feature on Kiron and me in March 2017, as we met as a result of an article in the magazine. I thought you might like to know that we got married last year on 25 September. We had a truly wonderful day and it is thanks to w&h that we met in the first place. Helen

WHAT WORKS

w&h Beauty Awards 2021 [October] certainly highlighted many new products. Alongside your expert judges, I do think readers could have played a greater part in recommending their choices, as we also know which ones really work too. Lynn
