DON’T MIND THE GAP

I read Elizabeth Noble’s feature, My Daughter with an Older Man? [September], with interest. I married a man 18 years older than myself, who already had a child. We celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary this year! To Elizabeth, I’d say as long as your daughter is happy, that’s all that matters. Penny

LIFE-AFFIRMING

It was so nice to read about cover star Fiona Bruce in August’s issue, and where her career has taken her since studying languages at Oxford University. I work at the faculty where she would have studied, and it’s lovely to discover how our students have gone on to follow varied careers. It really inspires the next generation. Sarah

WHEELCHAIR WOES

I have a progressive neurological condition and am now dependent on a wheelchair to get around. I’d love to read an article about difficulties facing disabled people and how to make life easier for us.

Sara

Thanks for the nudge Sara, this is a topic we would like to cover in a future issue.

NEVER TOO LATE

I enjoy reading w&h from cover to cover every month, but I particularly liked the article My First Time [September]. At the age of 78,

I started having singing lessons, learning the old classics from stars like Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. I made my first CD when I was 80.

I’m now 85, still having lessons, and singing solo at concerts for local charities and open mic nights. Singing has given me new friends and a new lease of life.

THEY’RE KEEPERS!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading

Fiona Gibson’s article So They’ve

Flown the Nest?,

[September]. I was keen to read what it must feel like to have all this time and space on your hands because

I am faced with the opposite problem. My ‘children’ are 24, 22 and 14, and the older ones show no signs whatsoever of wanting to set up a life on their own! Faye

ONE OF A KIND

I’ve just read Food of Love [September], about Debi Emmett setting up a food bank for animals. Debi, you are truly an exceptional individual. It has partly renewed my faith that there are others who respect animals. Well done Debi. Sheryl
