VERONICA KUMETA, 58 Helping breast cancer patients
Nominated by... Trish Kennedy and Patricia Noon After Veronica lost two close friends to breast cancer several years ago, she set up Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer in 2000. she has since raised over £1 million for equipment at her local hospital, including two mammogram units.
Which woman has inspired you in
your life? My mother, who made sure the door to her home was always open. What’s your mantra? to help other people in any way you can, no matter how big or small.
What couldn’t you live without? My children who are aged 24, 28 and 30. I’m so proud of them all.
What advice would you give to your younger self? always believe in yourself. What achievements are you most proud of? the choir that I set up for breast cancer sufferers. It’s wonderful seeing them come together to sing for two hours. How do you feel about winning this award? surprised! and so pleased that it will raise awareness of ladies Fighting breast Cancer.
