PERSONAL SHOPPER challenge

When it comes to party wear, Lucy Cavendish has lost her way. So can a personal shopper help her find a fresh take on her style?

-

Ihaven’t been to a proper party for ages. Part of it is that I’m now 52 and parties are not as common as they used to be. But another, far more major element, is that I don’t know what to wear. In my twenties and thirties it was easy. I’d sling on a tight black bodycon dress and high heels. In my forties, after four children, my party get-up changed. I wore looser, longer dresses and found designers who suited me – a DVF wrap dress took me just about everywhere. But as I have got older, I’ve lost my style confidence. Part of it is that I’ve put on weight. The clothes I used to wear and felt sexy and comfortable in, no longer fit me. I also know the perils of the wrong outfit, and shoes that hurt your feet can ruin an entire evening. Now I’m desperate to get my mojo back. I want to sashay into a party feeling fabulous, sexy and relaxed. I enlist the help of three personal shoppers to see if they can help in my fashion quest to find two outfits that, between them, will solve every party problem – one casual, one dressed up.
