Beneath her regal air and gracious smile, the Duchess of Cambridge is made of steely stuff. and it seems she’s putting this backbone to good use, as she’s said to be reading husband william the riot act after his recent ill-judged – and some consider unroyal – behaviour.

After being dubbed ‘throne idle’ for passing up the Queen’s Commonwealth Day service for a boys-only skiing trip in Verbier last month, the prince is believed to be in hot water with his wife, who is said to be concerned the incident may have tarnished their clean-cut image.

‘Kate must be livid that Wills has wrecked their carefully crafted public image with his boozy boys’ ski trip,’ reveals our palace insider. ‘His inappropriate behaviour has tarnished the Cambridges’ charm offensive, and let down the royals too. So it’s no surprise that while Wills is in the doghouse, Kate’s laying down the law with new rules for him.’
