Jolly Jamie

If you think you’ve seen Jamie Bamber, 44, before, you probably have. The actor’s had a successful career stateside, starring in Battlestar Galactica and NCIS. now he’ll be seen in Fearless with Helen mccrory. Jamie lives in France with wife Kerry and daughters Isla and twins Darcy and ava.

I’m from a family of six boys and just one girl. So having three girls was a bit of a surprise, especially to have a set of twins! But they’re just the gift that keeps on giving. The girls are like a little unit – they get on so well. i’m really proud of them.

one of my daughters is showing signs she might go into acting. i’m on the verge of encouraging her 100% as i think it’s important to have a passion that helps to make life rich and rewarding. if she does do it, i can see myself being a taskmaster.

It’s my mum’s fault that I’m an actor. She was a director and cast me as the Wicked Witch of the West in a production when i was four. at uni, i ‘came out’ as an actor in my last year when everyone started going to job interviews and i wasn’t. They all wondered what was wrong and i had to admit, ‘i think i might be an actor.’

Success came to me in my early thirties, by which point I had a family on the way, so maybe it was wasted on me a little. Showbiz parties are fun when you feel like you belong, but they can be excruciating. For kerry and me, it’s all about friends and family. But i did pinch myself and wonder how i ever got to be at the us open final watching andy murray win!

we live in the South of France. We’d been in La for a long time, but my kids were getting older and we wanted a bit more europe and a bit less america in their lives. Plus, kerry is envious of my ability to speak fluent French from my experience as a child and she wanted the same for our girls.
