Haven’t we heard this story before? If Paul Hollywood was a character in a sitcom we’d all write him off as too much of a stereotype.
At 52, the man is a walking midlife crisis. Hollywood has just been rumbled whisking girlfriend Summer Monteysfullam to a romantic £1,000-a-night villa in Mauritius.
Who knows? It might well be true love for the Great British
Bake Off judge and the barmaid, whose claim to fame in their local village is a topless pic of her holding a horse. Certainly Summer’s Instagram post to mark the end of 2017 was gooier than a sticky toffee pudding.
She gushed, ‘You have been amazing. You have been journey. You have been experience. You have taught me. You have shown me. You have made me. ‘I can only thank the people that are close to me. Including my amazing boyfriend. You have turned me from a girl to a woman, and to a house woman. I love you so much!’ Many, many 52-year-old men would be happy to be so adored by a beautiful, smitten ‘house woman’. But if anyone imagines that’s a recipe for success, it’s worth pointing out Hollywood met his wife Alex in 1996 – the same year Summer was born. He first met Summer in the local pub where she worked, when he went to organise a birthday party for Alex. He confessed to an affair with American chef and author Marcela Valladolid, 39, in 2013 while filming in America before getting back with Alex months later. Sorry, Summer, I reckon this could be over by autumn.
