Look who’s BACK
anne Reid stars in Disney Junior cartoon series Claude
THEN
anne’s first major role was as Ken’s Barlow’s first wife Valerie in Coronation Street from 1961 until Valerie was killed in 1971 by an electric shock from a hairdryer. She went on to star as Jean in BBC1 comedy Dinnerladies (1998-2000) and in 2012 she landed the part of Celia in the BBC1 drama Last Tango in Halifax alongside Derek Jacobi, nicola walker and Sarah Lancashire.
NOW
anne lends her voice to new animated children’s series Claude, which follows the adventures of a beret-clad dog and his faithful friend Sir Bobblysock (voiced by Simon Callow). Based on the best-selling books by alex T Smith, anne plays Dame Turret, an eccentric resident. ‘I love doing cartoon voices,’ says anne. ‘I vaguely based my character on a domineering french teacher at school.’
