The palm oil prognosis

-

‘Currently, there’s no obligation to reduce the palm oil levels on our supermarket shelves, but with growing awareness and controversy over the environmental damage from production, many are voluntarily reducing amounts,’ says Dr Yeates. one company taking such a stand is high-street chain Iceland, which has pledged to remove palm oil from all of its own-label products by the end of 2018 – half of its frozen items are already palm oil-free. whether we’re motivated by our health or the environment, there are steps we can take to reduce our consumption and boost our wellbeing, including limiting the amount of processed foods we eat and aiming for under 5g saturates per 100g in products we buy. Plus, why not switch processed palm oil for rapeseed or olive, or the unrefined red palm oil variety?
