winter holiday left me with bizarre skin spots!

QI’ve just got back from Spain and I have weird spots on my skin. I am Asian and did tan, but all over my back and chest are oval, whitish patches. What are they?

aVisit your doctor to be sure, but it could be pityriasis versicolor. This is due to an infection with a fungus called malassezia, often triggered by hot weather. Patches can be darker on fair skin and paler on dark skin. It’s generally treated with an antifungal shampoo called ketoconazole.
