how do i stop my cat getting fleas?

-

Perhaps more so than any other pet, cats are magnets for fleas. while they may not always show signs, some cats will become very itchy, even to the point that they are losing fur and developing scabs on their skin. The best way to tell if your cat is affected, is to comb its fur with a small nit or flea comb and check for any live fleas or flea dirt. Fleas are small, brown critters that tend to jump all over the place, while flea dirt is a tiny black dot of material that turns a redbrown colour when squished on to a wet paper towel. To rid your cat of fleas, they will need a regular, good quality flea treatment prescribed by your vet. Any in-contact cats and dogs, as well as the house itself, should be treated at the same time.
