Wiping the sweat off my brow, I sighed and collapsed onto the sofa.

‘What a day!’ I said to my husband, Steve, 62. ‘Tell me about it,’ he replied, as he sunk into the sofa. It was May 2018 and we were in the middle of moving house, exhausted packing everything into boxes.

They say moving home is one of the most stressful things in life – and it’s true! We were only moving four miles away, but it was hectic nonetheless.

So a relaxing night in front of the TV was definitely on the cards. As I sat on the sofa, even my three poodles, Penny, Ruby and Daisy, were tired as they snuggled up next to me.

As Steve flicked through the channels, I grabbed my tablet. ‘Think I’ll play a bit of bingo tonight,’ I said, as I sipped my tea. It had been a while since I had last played due to being so busy with the move, but I always found playing Woman Bingo so much fun.

I had been to bingo halls back in the day but love how easy it is playing online bingo in the comfort of my own home. Woman Bingo is also very sociable, and the chats are always entertaining, so you don’t have to miss the buzz from the bingo halls.

Since signing up in February 2012, I’ve never looked back! The games are fun, easy to play and a great way to enjoy my spare time occasionally. I usually play the slot games, my favourite being Double Bubble. But that night I thought I’d play something different. As the app finished loading, I clicked on the Emerald Bingo room. The next game was a linked game. It is a special event where selected bingo rooms are brought together, and you have the chance to win an even bigger prize when you get the Full House. The next Full House was £1,500.

‘That’s a big one,’ I said out loud. I decided to play the game and bought six tickets. The game started and one by one the ball numbers were called.

A couple of minutes later, a message flashed up on the screen. My last number had been called and dabbed on my card. As my eyes scanned the text, I nearly spat out my tea! I had just won £1,500!

‘Steve!’ I suddenly screamed. ‘I think I’ve won some money!’ Dozing off, Steve jumped in shock! ‘You what? Say that again?’ he said. ‘I’ve won £1,500 playing bingo!’ I repeated. Steve couldn’t believe it.

‘Are you sure, Jackie?’ he said. ‘Maybe leave it ’til the morning and check then?’

I did what he said and decided to wait until the next morning to check again. After settling the dogs for the night, I lay

in bed thinking about whether it was true. Was I really a winner?

Next morning, Steve and I sat down to have some breakfast.

‘Have you checked it again, love?’ Steve asked me. ‘No, I’m still shocked,’ I laughed. ‘Go and get it, let’s have a look,’ he said.

perfect timing

I rushed into the living room and dug out my tablet. I opened up the app and to my amazement it was true.

‘Steve, I was right – I’ve won!’ I exclaimed, heading back into the kitchen.

‘That’s amazing, love!’ Steve replied. He was right. The win couldn’t have come at a better time, as we were decorating and buying items for our new home. We had already purchased most of the things we wanted, but the extra cash allowed us to treat ourselves that little bit more!

I couldn’t help but imagine how we would decorate our house. We would buy a new sofa, dining table and chairs, and a barbecue. We have a big family and wanted to furnish our large house so that it would be just right for having everyone over. Steve and I have now moved into our new home and we couldn’t be happier.
