Talk about an utter twit!
Fifty-plus women are outraged by an author’s comments about their bodies, and rightly so
On my last birthday I turned into a repulsive old hag who suddenly found herself utterly unsexy to men. that’s if you believe French writer Yann moix, who has caused outrage by declaring himself incapable of loving women over 50.
He said, ‘I prefer younger women’s bodies, that’s all. End of. The body of a 25-year-old woman is extraordinary. The body of a woman of 50 is not extraordinary at all.’ What a total and utter twit. In one arrogant statement he effectively wrote off kylie Minogue, Liz Hurley, Halle Berry and hundreds of thousands of beautiful 50-plus women. The author, who no-one had heard of until this month, is himself 50. And he ain’t no daniel craig. In fact, Moix looks very much like a French Bulldog. Which is why it comes as a relief that jerks like him feel this way. It means ageing filters out the emotionally stunted idiots who see women only as arm candy. We can concentrate on grown-up men who like women for their personalities and life experience. davina Mccall, 51, wisely said recently, ‘I think as you get older, you don’t really give a s**t about attracting a male. I’ve had my kids. If I choose a mate now, it isn’t to procreate, it’s for companionship and a deep and meaningful relationship.’ My favourite response to Moix was from Marina Foïs, a French comedian, 48, who posted, ‘Only one year and 14 days left to sleep with Yann Moix.’ In your dreams, monsieur.
