Start your snowy trip at the famous Icehotel, which is created each year using frozen water from the nearby Torne River (although guests who prefer a cosier hotel experience will be pleased to learn the new year-round building Icehotel 365 has now opened offering ‘warm’ rooms!). Then head to the Abisko Mountain Station in Abisko National Park, located in the middle of the ‘Aurora Zone’ – with almost permanently cloud-free skies and no artificial light pollution, it’s said to be statistically proven to be the most reliable place in the world to spot the dazzling light display. Take the chairlift ride to the Aurora Sky Station and watch for solar activity from the large outside deck.
