And perhaps one of the most heartbreaking admissions was that her husband-of-16-years wanted to give up more than once, telling Kate, ‘I don’t know how to cope’. Brave Kate, 53, vowed to save Derek, 53, and stayed up all night on Facetime willing him to hold on. Derek is the longestsuffering COVID-19 patient in England and the virus has ‘wreaked havoc’ on his body.
