AThe traditional view is that if your first lover’s your only lover, you’re more likely to stay loyal and therefore make your relationship work. The modern view is that if you have several relationships, you’re more likely to learn what you need and therefore partner more wisely. It’s unlikely you’ll change your daughter’s mind – she’s old enough to make her own decisions. But you can make sure she understands both sides. And you can be there for her if – when she finds her ‘Mr Right’ – things don’t work out as she hoped.
