ARIADNE
by Jennifer Saint (£12.99, HB, Headline)
It seems we can’t get enough of Greek myth retellings, and this debut is a welcome addition. Ariadne, daughter of Pasiphae and the Cretan king Minos, flees Crete with her sister Phaedra. They embark on a journey, determined to avoid the mistakes their mother made – all the while fighting in a world of mercurial gods and all-powerful men. Beautifully written and dealing with issues that feel very relevant today.
